2014–2017: Foundation as a Faculty Institute in Georgia

The history of UNIES dates back to 2014, when the University Institute for International and European Studies (UNIES) was established by the International Teaching University of Georgia in Tbilisi, formerly known as Tbilisi Teaching University “Gorgasali”.

UNIES initially operated as a faculty institute of the university, focusing on international and European studies and on the development of internationally oriented educational activities.

The institute subsequently developed its own international profile and established cooperation with educational institutions outside Georgia.

In 2017/2018, UNIES became institutionally independent from the Georgian university and continued its activities as an independent educational organization.

2017–2021: Cooperation with Katowice Business University

Following its separation from the Georgian university, UNIES continued to expand its international cooperation activities.

From 2017 to 2021, UNIES cooperated with Katowice Business University (KBU / GWSH) in Poland in connection with MBA and postgraduate educational activities.

This period marked an important step in the development of UNIES as an internationally oriented institution working across national and institutional boundaries.

2018–2024: UNIES as an Offshore Faculty Institute of Collegium Humanum

From 2018, UNIES entered into a new phase of development through its cooperation with Collegium Humanum – Warsaw Management University in Warsaw, Poland.

During this period, UNIES operated as an offshore faculty institute of Collegium Humanum – Warsaw Management University and formed an integral part of the university's international educational activities.

The cooperation included the development and organization of international educational postgraduate programs and provided UNIES with an established framework for cooperation with students, lecturers and partner institutions in different countries.

UNIES continued in this role until 2024, when the institutional structure of its cooperation with Collegium Humanum changed following the subsequent development of the university and its successor organization.

2024: Malaysian Qualifications Agency Accreditation

An important milestone in the international development of UNIES was reached in 2024, when one of its Bachelor's programs was approved through the quality-assurance process of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

The MQA is a statutory body operating under Malaysia's Ministry of Higher Education and is responsible for quality assurance and the Malaysian Qualifications Framework.

The UNIES Bachelor's program in Criminology and Policing was approved in cooperation with its Malaysian partner institution in Kuala Lumpur.

This development established an important foundation for UNIES's activities in Southeast Asia and demonstrated its ability to work with local educational partners within a national higher-education quality assurance framework.

2025–2026: UNIES as a Learning Center of Varsovia

During the period 2025–2026, UNIES continued its cooperation with the successor structure of Collegium Humanum.

Following the establishment of the University of Business and Applied Sciences “Varsovia” as the successor organization to Collegium Humanum, UNIES continued its activities as a Learning Center in cooperation with Varsovia.

This cooperation enabled UNIES to continue supporting international students and educational activities while developing its role as an international learning and cooperation center.
